11 Sep 1954 - F/O LJ Elphick

F/O LJ Elphick was assigned with 439 Squadron at North Luffenham. Official records indicate that he experienced a category "A" crash in Sabre 19155 on 8 April 1954. His aircraft experienced engine trouble and he landed short at North Luffenham. This was a "non-fatal" accident.

11 Sep 54 - A motor vehicle accident on the Great North Road resulted in the death of F/O LJ Elphick and F/O AM Gillies. Funeral service held 15 Sep in Stn Chapel.
