St. John's, NF

The 14 RD radar compex was located north of St. John's on the coast at Flat Rock. This complex served as an "Early Warning" unit.

We understand that the 17 RD radar complex at Torbay was supposedly within "walking distance" of 14 RD. This complex served as a "Ground Controlled Intercept" (GCI) radar station.

We further understand that both the 14 RD and the 17 RD radar stations shared some common buildings such as administration, barracks and a Mess Hall. However, these units had separate Operations sites.
